THE SCIO BOX and ADHD

The SCIO biofeedback system is a safe, powerful device designed for simplicity of use and healing stimulation. When used with children and adults that are diagnosed with ADHD, it can be a successful alternative to medications. After seven years of clinical experience using the SCIO, I am sharing my observations of SCIO results found in ADHD clients. NUTRITION

The SCIO shows an essential fatty acid deficiency among those clients previously diagnosed with ADHD. When questioned about the diet there are typically two responses. First, if a parent is bringing a child in, it is because they have tried every diet and therapist before our appointment. The child is, in this case, off of gluten, dairy, soda, and most often, strategically diet monitored for a few years. (I have observed that these children are in a different mental state than the diet poor child) Most of these monitored children, though, are rarely served fish. An important source of Omega 3 oils, fish is called brain food and for good reason. This source of oil is responsible for enhancing the myelin sheath around the nerve. ‘Raw’ nerves are soothed with an increase in Omega 3 food sources in the daily diet. The second type of child that arrives at the office is one with a poor diet. Very few vegetables are served at the dinner table and fast food and prepared food is the choice of the parent’s diet. This diet is given to the child as well. These children are a bit more lethargic and spacey. ‘Fast Food’ frequency is generally seen on the test results for stress of the client.

There is not one ADHD clients, adult or child, that does not have low mutase- isomers. These enzymes break down gluten. Not all are allergic to wheat, but most are. The SCIO brings up stress with all grains and grasses. Most are responding by stress to the frequencies of fast food, food additives, kapok (stuffed animal material), and sometimes milk. Almost all ADHD children have multiple allergies.

Other observations of nutrition on the SCIO of ADHD clients are: low zinc, magnesium, calcium, protein. The client chews his food much too fast, digestive enzymes (especially pancreatic enzymes), surprisingly, the gall bladder is not ‘alarmed’ for most children, even if eating fast food. The older the client, the more often the gallbladder/pancreas loop is affected.

HEAVY METALS and VACCINATIONS

Heavy metals and vaccinations ALWAYS come up on the SCIO for detoxification with ADHD children.

PESTICIDES

Pesticides are frequently an item for detoxification for everyone.

ADDICITIVE PERSONALITY

I see quite a few adult ADHD clients in my office. They will generally have very poor diets with the above nutrients also below normal. The difference between the child and adult client is the addition of adult addictive personality. The form of addiction will vary from alcohol to work, but it seems to be always present with ADHD clients when using the SCIO. Fortunately, the SCIO addresses the addictive state through many menus.

HEAD INJURY

The most effective menu is the same used for children: the Brain Wave Program. Balancing with this program involves the different areas of the brain and each of the brain waves such as theta brain waves. In my research with Renee’ Siegel, we found a high correlation between brain injury and ADHD using the SCIO. The SCIO results in this research showed almost a 40% improvement of the brain injury ‘stress’ over the five weeks (once a week) of therapy. This seemed to correlate with the ADHD improvement of the test subjects. Most of the subjects were adults. When questioned, this injury took place as early as toddler stage. The encouraging news is that the SCIO balanced the injury to a great extent in a short period of time. It did not matter when the head injury happened.

SHOCK

The homeopathic remedy ACONITE comes up in the SCIO as the ‘MIND’ remedy in children with ADHD. This remedy means that the child has felt that he/she was going to die at some point in his life. Sometimes the mother will confirm that there was a critical gestation/birth that would explain why is remedy shows up in the mind area. However, most of the time there is no explanation from the parent. As most of us have experienced, children can fall, hit their heads and we might not know that it happened. Falls from high places, children bumping heads, striking from other children may happen with or without parent awareness. Many times when I ask the child if they had hit their head, the child remembers but the parent does not.

My gravest concern is the violence on television and DVD’s that the children watch and the effect on the child. Children in the early year cannot distinguish pretend from real and the SCIO shows the long-rang results of this type of high tech violence. Children should not watch the news. I cannot. It is too violent.

HOMEOPATHIC SCIO FINDINGS

There are two remedies that show up in the homeopathic panel under the MIND. The first is ACONITE mentioned above. This remedy feels on ‘alert’…that any moment they may die. The initial shock from visual or physical impact has not left. It remains as a ‘Homeopathic State’ as if the body cannot go forward without clearing this fear of death.

The second remedy in the MIND section that is prevalent for the ADHD child and adult is IPECACUANHA or better known as Ipecac Root. When the root is potentized into a homeopathic remedy and ‘proven’, many symptoms are recorded and collected into a material medica. The PRISMA by Frans Vermeulen lists the following symptoms that would require the use of the homeopathic remedy, Ipecac:

• Discontented – hard to please
• Ailments from vexation and reserved displeasure and suppressed anger
• Aversion to everything
• Thinks himself unfortunate
• Silent grief
• Passionate
• Jealousy, desires that others shall not appreciate anything
• Pans and constant nausea and constant salivation
• No Thirst

Ipecac appears about 40% of the time in children and many adults with ADHD in the SCIO ‘MIND’ section. I do not know why. I think of the action of Ipecac when we take the actual substance (not the homeopathic remedy) when we want someone to vomit. The feeling of vomiting may be the mind feeling of ADHD. This is a supposition on my part. However, these particular children do seem to present this way in my office

These remedies are not necessarily the correct constitutional approach. Other remedies are usually more appropriate for a long term reversal of ADHD.

There are other remedy pictures present on the homeopathic panel. These remedies are listed separately under: mineral, body, mind, social, spirit, and harmonic. I would like to discuss two more remedies found on the SCIO present in many ADHD children. They are both found in the MINERAL section of the SCIO homeopathic panel. The first is CUPRUM. This remedy is wonderful for those with long-term parasite issues. These children usually exhibit seriousness and feeling CRAMPED inside. They may have behavioral problems such as being destructive, striking, biting and spitting. They have changeable behavior, alternating yielding and headstrong. They take some time to answer a question, can be contradictory. This remedy is wonderful in the presence of worms. This remedy is appropriate for all ages.

The second remedy frequently found in the MINERAL section of the ADHD child is PLUTONIUM. In fact, most recently, I have seen this remedy in this section for smaller babies. Why this remedy from radiation is so prevalent is only my guess. What comes to my mind is the possible correlation with perhaps excessive ULTRASOUNDS during pregnancy. According to the book by Jeremy Sherr, Homeopathic Proving of Plutonium Nitricum , the mental symptoms of this remedy are: concentration difficult, restlessness, absentmindedness, ,indifference, excitement, anxiety, nervous breakdown, feeling drunk, many delusions about his body, withdrawal from reality, unconsciousness, blacks our for a few seconds, depression, aphasia, and impaired hearing.


SCIO ADHD SESSIONS with CAROLINE WALRAD, Ph.D.
