Essential Fatty Acids

We are a society that is told not to eat fat. “Eat margarine”. “Don’t eat butter”. “Fat will make you fat”. Teens are not eating fat, if weight conscious. We NEED FAT in our diet. It is probably one of the most important essentials to life.

Now, for the good fats: Omega 3, 6 and 9. These come in food form. Eat lots of fish, especially salmon.  Eat seeds and raw nuts. Oils are important. Oils in avacado, raw nuts, olive oil are very good for you. Do not eat any partially hydrogenated oils. Read the labels of what you eat. They are poison in the body and interfere with the utilization of the good fats.

To supplement the diet is essential. I have found the best product so far is Multi EFA. It has all of the oils in beautiful percentages with each other. These balances are extremely important.

Also, to purchase are fish oils in wonderful flavor. The kids love them. Do not consume JUST fish oil, though. You need all of the oils in proportion. When someone has a nervous system complaint, including ADD/HD, they need more fish oils.

It is always best to eat our basic nutritional needs. But, to supplement is the smartest choice to make. We do not, in general, eat fish four times a week and eat enough seeds and nuts.
